Event Description:

Bank of Ireland Shannon Night Run 2017 takes place on Shannon Airport Runway at 23:59 on Friday June 16th 2017. The distance of this years event is 5km and the event will be chip timed.

All proceeds from this event will be split between 2 charities; Homeshare Clare and Cahercalla Hospital.

Event t-shirts will be provided to all participants but sizes will not be guaranteed. Race pack collection is at Shannon Airport on Thursday 15th June from 12pm-2:30pm and again on Friday 16th June from 9pm.

Race Warm up to be provided by Mr Motivator, Richie Clifford.  Registration provides all entrants with entry to a competition for Spot prizes.  There will be music at the finish line outside the Terminal Building.

Route

This year the race will have a new route, which will include both airside & landside areas of the airport.  The race will begin in the same start point but will then exit at the fire station and route around the airport approach road & finish outside the terminal building, where there will be music & Mr Motivator to greet the runners home.

Corporate Challenge

Companies can enter up to 10 staff in the Corporate Challenge.  Times for the first 5 finishers (minimum of 2 male & females) to be accumulated into an overall team time.  Prizes will be issued to the top 3 corporate teams.

Cahercalla Community Hospital & Hospice

‘Hospice care is available at Cahercalla for patients with active and progressive diseases which cannot be cured.  Patient focused care is provided by a team of trained and committed professionals who endeavour to provide the patient and their family with the highest standard of care.’

Home Share Clare (c/o Brothers of Charity)

‘Home Share Clare is a service developed by the Brothers of Charity, Co Clare, providing short respite breaks to adults and children with learning disabilities.  Care is provided for people in family homes and individuals enjoy the opportunity of being part of new communities whilst enjoying a short break.

I have been running since I have been in primary school, all the time striving for better times. To date, I have run 10 marathons and 1 Ultra and numerous other races besides. I am focused on running a sub 30 10K and my next goal would be sub 2:30 marathon, all in time.
