County Intermediate Cross Country

Held last Sunday October 18th on home turf in the middlepiece grounds we had another good day of running by all, Up first in the Girls U9 race The team won the Bronze medals with Sophie Coughlin first home for the club in 5th place followed closely by Emma & Jane Corcoran in 9th & 13th with Aoife Shelly close behind in 16th also running well were Katelyn Flanagan 18th and Ciara Corcoran in 32nd. In the Boys U9s The team won the Silver medals with great running from Cillian Doran & Daire O’Donnell in 1st and 2nd place also running well together for the team were Jamie O’Mahoney & Richie Maher in 19th & 20th also running well were James Danagher in 32nd, Eamon Ryan in 38th & Ryan Cooney in 42nd. In the Girls U11 The team also won Silver First home for the club working well together were Sarah Corcoran in 5th & Ciara Shelly in 6th ,in close proximity were Rebecca Danagher in 16th Aeidín Johnstone 18th & Lauren Maher in 19th, running well also we had Shauna Flanagan in 26th & Caithlin Shelly in 28th & Rebecca Hourihan in 43rd & Fiona Abbott, our second team finished just outside the medals. In the Boys U11 race Joe Egan picked up his 2nd win in a row to lead the team home in first place the team ran well finishing just outside the medals with Ronan O’Dwyer in 35th  Adam Hackett in 45th & Patrick O’Donnell in 47th. In the Boys U13 race saw string running from Cathal Corcoran in 12th & Oisín Martin in 18th. In the Boys U17 race Ben O’Dwyer had a good run in 5th place. In the Mens 8k event Paddy Cummins was first home with a strong run followed closely by Shane Mullaney & Seán Healy & Paul Bowe who garnered a PB over the distance unfortunately the team finished just outside the medals in a close event. Well done to everyone on the day & thanks to the numerous club members who helped out in any way from setting up the course to drawing up maps & putting out road signs to making the tea + sandwiches & taking the course down afterwards in the rain & to Hayes Family of the Middlepiece for hosting the event.

GloHealth Munster School Indoor Combined Events

On Wednesday last October 14th at Nenagh Olympic Indoor Arena we had athletes representing their respective secondary schools in this All Ireland combined events which warrants the athlete to participate in different disciplines which include  60m Hurdles, Shot putt, Long jump,High jump 200m, & 800m they then have their events added up for combined total. Up first In the Junior Girls event Anna Ryan did very well competing out of her age to finish in 6th place out of 22 with a points total of 2423. In the first year Boys event Adam O’Dwyer also did very well in 5th place out of 33 with a points total of 1685. In the Junior Boys event Sean Mockler combined well to finish good in 4th place with a points total of 2791. Jack Ryan competing out of his age did very well in 12th place out of 49 with a points total of 2209. In the Intermediate Boys Daniel Ryan picked up a great win with a points total of 3348.

FIT4LIFE

 On Wednesdays we will be Fit4lifing in the field with our new floodlights come walk jog or run a few laps the outside lap is 400m & the inside 350m bring a friend set a goal in a fun environment Meeting Point is at the Moycarkey Community Sports Centre in Littleton. JUVENILE CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING

Juvenile Cross Country Training for all age groups continues every Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm at our new field beside the Moycarkey Borris Community & Sports Centre. We have two lanes marked out, one for the younger age group & the second one for our older athletes. Parents are welcome to walk or jog the route themselves during training if they so wish. Cost is 2 euro per child.

Clothing Collection

Our next clothing collection is on November 6th & 7th  if you have any clothes you no longer need get collecting now much appreciated.

Athlete Youth Forum

Is a forum set up to give a voice to our teenage athletes and have their opinions heard and hear what they’d like to see happen in the club converse with fellow athletes and pick each others brains in a fun atmosphere we already have  had 2 forums take place held in the Moycarkey Borris Community & Sports Centre usually held on a Friday evening at 7:30pm all parents will be emailed about out next Youth Forum & if they could reply in kind if their child would like attend fore more info contact Kay Cantwell.

I have been running since I have been in primary school, all the time striving for better times. To date, I have run 10 marathons and 1 Ultra and numerous other races besides. I am focused on running a sub 30 10K and my next goal would be sub 2:30 marathon, all in time. I am also dedicated to helping other runners improve through coaching and advice to help them every step of the way.
