Aw bank holiday August what a lovely weekend perfect for a little spot of parkrunning! Alan our Event Director decided to “Bring it all back” and oversaw the 150th Parkrun in Father Collins Park.

The event was made possible by 10 volunteers: All these superstars “Reach” for the stars and make sure that parkrun runs smoothly

Alan FOLEY • Rachel MARKEY • Austin KEEGAN • Witek LOCHOWSKI • Simon SMITH • Aoife MCCARTHY • Nadia LOCHOWSKA • Geraldine PRENDERGAST • Ita O’HANLON • Paul CAREY

This week 83 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 11 were first timers and 11 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part.

Myself and fellow run director Matt headed off to Kikenny to collect another letter in the parkrun alphabet. A nice albeit with a nasty hill that passes through forest paths and takes in a lovely view of Kilkenny castle. The core team were lovely and friendly and nice to spot the odd Kilkenny Hurler. With their season finished early there is no excuse for missing a parkrun so good to see them toeing the line… There are no prizes for guessing who Matt had on the musical playlist today. And its a two hour drive to Kilkenny…..
