Before you run, you need to register on the Parkrun website -> Register Here
There’s a simple rule with Parkrun, no Barcode, no time! Simply print off your barcode, and bring it with you to have your time registered.
So that’s what you need to know to get going, now how about knowing more about River Valley Park? But before we do, we try to keep this info as updated as possible, but the team at Parkrun always have up to date info regarding every course. This info is a sign post and the official Parkrun website is the best place to ensure the info you’re seeing is 100% accurate, as mistakes can happen! The Course Itself
Our goal at Run Republic is to make it to every Parkrun, and try to rate them as best we can. Every route is unique and has its own character. While we are getting around to each Parkrun, the words of the team at River Valley Park probably sum up the run best for now. Their description of the Parkrun is:
“The route begins at the River Valley view entrance and goes straight down the hill. At the bottom of the hill, runners turn left instead of running over the bridge. Continue until you reach our “famous” River Valley hill. At the top of the hill, turn right into the forested area and continue along the path as it turns left. This brings runners out beside the football pitches. Continue along this path until it comes to a t-junction. Then take the left path and run straight until the paths branch, taking the right hand path. This will lead runners back to the start line. Repeat this route a second time, finishing at the finish tunnel beside the all weather pitches.“
How do we get to River Valley
The River Valley Parkrun starts at River Valley view Entrance. If you’re interested in heading to it, you can get the 41x, 41x, or the 102 bus there, just be sure to ask the driver. Timetables for these buses can be found on DublinBus.ie
Driving is a slightly different matter, and it’s best to use the description by the team at River Valley. Their directions are as follows:
“From M1 heading Northbound, take exit for Swords (JN 3). At the roundabout at the top of the junction, take the first left and continue to the next roundabout. Continue straight through (second exit) and you will reach a third roundabout. Turn left (first exit) on the roundabout (Airside retail park will now be on your right. Continue along this road until you get to the lights. Continue straight through the lights into Boroimhe. Continue through Boroimhe until you reach the crossroads beside Supervalu. Head straight through the junction and follow the road until you reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, turn right (second exit) and continue straight down the road until you reach the shops and Peacocks pub. Parking is available at the Community Centre/shops and the park entrance is directly across the road”
