Counting down to our first birthday, we enjoyed a fun warm up today courtesy of Ciaran Caldwell, standing in for our usual cheerleader Siobhan Quinn. This week 41 runners, walkers and joggers joined us today, of whom 12 were first timers and 8 recorded new Personal Bests. Well done on your PB’s to Ciara O’Loughlin, Adam Quigley, PJ McFaul, Marie Hegarty, Fiona O’Loughlin, Caroline O’Loughllin, Judi Quigley and Clodagh Murray.
We would like to congratulate our staunch regular John O’Donnell on being our first finisher this week with a time of 23:32, closely followed by Anne Doherty on 23:38, and Liam Dempsey on 24:19. We would also like to congratulate our last finisher, park walker Susie Kearney, on being the proud age grade record holder at 83 years! Susie was very appreciative of the support given to her by our Tail walker Brian Farren, on a morning of unpredictable bursts of heavy rain along with the sunshine.
Representatives of 5 different clubs took part – we had visitors from Bracknell, Gladstone, Cheltenham and Oakhill Park in the UK, and from Killaloo, Co Clare. We hope you’ve enjoyed your time in Buncrana and that you enjoy the rest of your time here in Donegal.
A big thank you to all our volunteers, without whom this event would not be possible: Ciaran Caldwell, Siobhan Kearney, Liz Le Masurier, Patricia Greenaway, Elizabeth McDaid, Brian Simpson, Ann Harkin, Stephen Diggin, Bernie Gibbins, Sara Jane Murray, Siofra O’Dwyer and Brian Farren.
Today’s full results and a complete event history can be found on the Buncrana parkrun Results Page.
Don’t forget Buncrana parkrun is celebrating its first birthday on Saturday 8th September. Also we are planning our volunteer roster a month in advance now so we would appreciate if you could let us know if you can help.
We would like you to remember that park walkers are always warmly welcomed, so please encourage your family and friends to come on out join us for a nice walk, and enjoy a well earned tea or coffee at the Fishermans Wharf afterwards.
Also please remember your barcode, folks, as without it we can’t give you a time.
