#Juneathon 2015 Day 13

#Juneathon 2015 Day 13

Ok, so this is pre-empting the weekend a little bit… On Saturday 13th June, Juneathon continues and I’ll be starting the South Downs Way 100 (SDW100), which will be my 7th attempt at the 100 mile distance and hopefully, my 3rd finish.

Anyway, the race starts at 6am and I’m likely to be running, walking, stumbling or staggering for a minimum of 24 hrs. Consequently, I don’t plan on making time to blog as I go. So this is my blog… if for any reason I fail to reach the finish, I vow to cover a minimum of 5K.

The above pic is of me, once I’d finally & proudly managed my first 100 mile finish, having fallen short during the first four attempts. I finished in 29 hrs 37 mins 10 secs, just over 20 mins shy of the final cut off. Minutes after this was taken, having been awake for 36 hours, I cautiously/explosively emptied my bowels, proceeded to lay down on the floor and started convulsing. Ah, how I remember it fondly.

Hoping to return to this blog some time on Sunday evening, to babble excitedly about how awesome the weekend has been.

Runners High

It’s hard to explain the ‘runners high’ to someone who isn’t necessarily a well established runner yet or is just starting out, but keep pursuing and it will consume you. Once you kick the habit of finding every excuse in the book to not go for a run, you are going to be finding every…
